The land consists of two crofts, amounting to 100 acres, on a peninsula. These were merged together when it became more the norm to access a croft by road rather than by sea.

 

Mil Bothy is built on the edge of the bay and enjoys wonderful views south and west over the small surrounding islands and the Isle of Skye in the distance.

 

Those who fancy catching a fish for their supper are welcome to bring their fishing rod and venture on to the rocks to try their luck. We can show you the favoured spots, one is below the cottage. Previous visitors have caught mackerel, pollock and small sea trout.

 

The east side of Harris is sometimes described as the rugged and remote side of the island - which is a blessing in disguise - giving a better chance at watching undisturbed wildlife, from the bungalow windows, and enjoying peace in this simple wilderness.

 

Annick (Mrs Merlin) produces a good assortment of vegetables and fruit from her large garden, greenhouse and polytunnel, all grown on organic principles. Available to you when in season.

 

We have truly free range hens who wander up and down the croft land and enjoy the natural organic pickings of seeds, grasses and insects, which give the yolks a golden colour.

 

The shelter of the polytunnel allows us to grow raspberries and other fruit.
